Here is a transcript of the video for those who prefer to read. Enjoy!

Today, I’m going to talk to you about the very first question I often get as an as an online marketing consultant for the orthodontic and dental communities. That question is, “How do I get to the number one position or, at the very least, on page one of Google?” which is a great question.   And, it requires a rather interesting answer, because it’s not a simple, “Do this.” There are a lot of things that can be done to get your site on to the first page of Google and even into the top position.

The question you have to ask yourself is, “What are you willing to do to get there?” There are a lot of ways to make that happen. So let’s talk about a few of them.

1.Keyword strategy. You’ve got to make sure that you’ve really thought about the keyword strategy you want to use for your website. What are the keywords that you’re going to be focusing on and are those the keywords that you’re going to be using to get to the first page of Google. So it’s not just, “Where am I on Google?” It’s for what keywords am I going to show up on that first page or even the first position on Google?

2. Keyword targeting and internal linking. Once you’ve got that figured out, then you start to target those keywords within your website, and create internal linking. Internal linking means that when you use that keyword or key phrase in your site, you have a link on that phrase to a specific page on your site. Google weights this highly, so you want to create as many internal links as possible for each of the keywords on which you are focusing.

3. “Off-page” linking. After you’ve completed internal linking, you want to start looking at “off-page” linking or “off-page” search engine optimization. What is that? “Off-page” search engine optimization means that you start building links from outside of your website into your website. While there are tools that can help with automating this process, you want to do this strategically, and take time to build those links. So how do you do that?

a. Create a blog (if you don’t already have one). Every time you post on your blog and you link to your website, that counts as an “off-page” link.

b. Start working on article marketing. Write an article and post it to to Ezinearticles (www.ezinearticles.com) and other article submission websites. There are a lot of good article submission sites that allow you to post your articles and link back to your website. And, that also allows you to aggregate your article in another way. When people find it and find it useful, they can then take the article, move it on to their website and link back to you, and there’s another link to your website.

c. Consider video marketing. Create videos for your website, like the ones I have at www.orthovideosnow.com/blog, tag them with the right keywords, and then post them online. Similar to article marketing above, there are many video submission websites that allow you to link back to your website.

When you’re doing all of these things together and ensuring that links go to specific pages on your website geared for the appropriate keyword, Google will start moving you up in its search engine result pages and that’s how you get to page one.
I hope that helps and you start employing some of these techniques today to improve your Google results.

This is an EXCELLENT series of videos that every orthodontist should see! As a speaker at orthodontists’ conventions on networking and getting new patients, I know how much they could learn from you.
Just one small example: Your video discussing facebook is vital since more than 70% of Orthodontists’ patients are kids. And what kid would trust anyone who wasn’t on facebook?
    Good job, great service, Brian.

  5. Thank you for the kind words and I do want orthodontists to know they can learn and take advantage of this material. We are planning to start a weekly update in the next month or so so stay tuned for more!
